JOB TITLE:  Marketing Coordinator
REPORTS TO:  Executive Director
THIS IS A NEW POSITION WITHIN THE ORGANIZATION.
Description of Devils Lake Tourism: We are a non-profit organization that exists to promote the Devils Lake area as a destination for groups involved with conventions, trade shows, sporting events, as well as the leisurely travelers. We serve the hospitality industry, visitors, and local businesses who may benefit from visitor dollars. Essentially, we’re here to share with the rest of the world just how great our city really is.
Description of Devils Lake Chamber of Commerce: DLACC is a 501(c)6 organization whose mission is to partner with businesses and organizations to promote and advocate for the civic, economic, and social well-being of the Lake Region. Funding consists of membership investments and contracting with the NDDOT to oversee the operations of the Department of Motor Vehicle.

ABOUT THE JOB: This hire will be the Marketing & Sales Coordinator with the Devils Lake Chamber of Commerce, and Tourism Division, serving the Lake Region Area. The marketing coordinator will lead the execution of the marketing plan and will create marketing concepts and strategy; execute marketing campaigns; create, manage and maintain all visual marketing assets; develop and manage overall organization editorial content calendar; and create and manage content for various promotional platforms (i.e., website, social media, e-newsletters, etc.).
Other duties include a small amount of meeting sales solicitations and executions, and may need to provide backup for the NDDOT Department of Motor Vehicle.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: 
Marketing
  • Build and execute social media and digital strategy through competitive research, platform determination, benchmarking, messaging and audience identification.
  • Maintain and grow Devils Lake Tourism social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, TikTok). Develop content including but not limited to posts, blogs/relevant articles, photography, quizzes, videos, and promote events listings (both internal and external).
  • Put together short videos highlighting events, recreation and around town.
  • Maintain & update the devilslakend.com website, including photos and all other information on hotels, attractions, restaurants and members.
  • Contribute to blog posts and participate in other content creation
  • Create, place & track publicity concerning the Devils Lake Chamber and CVB activities
  • Assist in maintaining an up-to-date database in the CRM system, currently “Simpleview”
  • Respond to incoming media inquiries
  • Work as a team to develop and implement PR strategies including proactive media kits and press packages as well as plan and host familiarization tours for media and writers
  • Create weekly e-newsletter for leisure subscribers and bi-monthly e-newsletter for local hospitality industry and Tourism partners
  • Maintain photo and video library assets for internal and external use.
  • Keeps up to date with emerging industry developments and trends and competitor campaigns.
  • Help identify social media KPI’s, track the performance of posts and campaigns launched, and monitor customer engagement to optimize future campaigns and content.
  • Monitor and follow the Marketing Budget and Marketing Calendar as created and approved by the Executive Director. This includes correspondence with staff and vendors, and meeting deadlines.
  • Prepare result reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data.
Meeting Sales (Minimal duties)
  • Work with the Executive Director to solicit meeting opportunities to create overnight bookings.
  • Works with meeting organizers while in town to make sure needs are met.
OPERATIONS & OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES: 
  • Maintain a knowledge of current marketing strategies through various professional development opportunities.
  • Attend travel & trade shows as needed per the Marketing Budget.
  • Help the City of Devils Lake with any marketing needs as they arise, at the direction of the Executive Director.
  • Monitor marketing budget and reports needs or concerns to Executive Director.
  • Answer incoming calls and greet walk-in visitors when needed.
  • Backup the Motor Vehicle Department.
  • Must be able to perform duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS: 
  • Proficient in the use of computers and related equipment, hardware, and software applicable to area of assignment, specifically Adobe Create Suites (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator and Premiere), Video creation software and the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Various marketing platform experience (Hootsuite, WordPress, etc.)
  • Experience with DSLR video cameras and other video equipment.
  • Experience using digital marketing platforms (Google AdWords & Analytics, Facebook Business Manager, etc).
  • Strong writing skills, an impeccable sense of grammar, and attention to detail.
  • Strategic and creative thinker who can conceptualize about visitor experiences on a big picture level.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with employees, management and outside agencies and stakeholders.
  • Skill in organizing workflow and managing multiple projects.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Must be willing to travel.
  • Ability to work under deadlines.
  • Ability to write clear, concise reports and business correspondence.
  • Must have a reliable vehicle, a valid North Dakota’s drivers license and proof of insurance to attend off-site programs and events as well as travel out of the city limits.
  • Some nights and weekends will be required, with advanced notice.
  • Open to working on other projects as they arise.
  • Familiarity with and a love for the Devils Lake community.
  • All requirements are subject to change over time.
  • Knowledge of Fishing and hunting preferred but not required.
